Bronzed up

Today I thought I would share with you my ever expanding bronzer collection. A few years ago I was lucky to apply bronzer once a month. These days I find it much more of a daily staple in my makeup collection. I find that bronzer quickly and easily adds shape and definition to my face. It also enhances a natural, healthy looking complexion.

I have two cream bronzers in my collection. Firstly, Bourjois Bronzing Primer and secondly Chanel Bronze Universel. I prefer the Bourjois primer when applied after my foundation application. The texture is moussey and blends out to a relatively sheer wash of colour. I prefer applying the Chanel cream bronzer underneath my foundation. This is a much firmer consistency and warmer in colour. I find it excellent at boosting the colour of my complexion as my face is often more pale than my neck and body. Foundation also applies very smoothly over the top.

I have three powder bronzers and a contour shade which I've snuck in to this post. My most affordable bronzer is actually not marketed as a bronzer. It's the Savvy Natural Finish Pressed Powder in the shade 06 Tan. This powder is a fantastic shade for paler complexions. It blends easily and is finely milled. Next is the limited edition Clarins Splendour Summer Bronzer. It's almost too pretty to use with the beautiful embossing. The packaging feels weighted and of great quality. It applies essentially matte and is a lovely warm colour, great to enhance a summer tan. You also get a huge pan with a tonne of product. Thirdly, I have the Nars Laguna Bronzer in my collection. This was my first NARS purchase so it holds a special place in my collection. The colour works well for a variety of skin tones and the product itself provides a more natural looking finish. It's a good all-rounder to have in your collection as it is suitable for bronzing and contouring. Finally, for contouring I have the NYX blush in the shade Taupe. The cooler tones give a more natural shaded appearance and look best on lighter skin tones. It is a good one to consider if you want to experiment with contouring but without the expensive price tag.

What bronzers do you love?

Blue Mountains Get Away

Today's post is obviously non-beauty related but the photographs are so lovely I just had to share! My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights in the Blue Mountains. We stayed at Leura and the Jenolan Caves. There are lots of bush walks you can do that vary in both length and difficulty so there's something for everyone. The first three photographs were taken at Everglades which is an historic house and gardens. The fourth photograph was taken at the Jenolan Caves which are absolutely stunning. The fifth photograph was taken at one of the many beautiful lookouts around Katoomba. I would definitely recommend taking a short break in the Blue Mountains.

I hope you enjoyed this off topic post and look forward to a new beauty post on Wednesday.

5 Products for a 5 Minute Face

Lately my morning routine has been all about speed but ensuring I still look presentable for the day ahead. Today I thought I would share with you five products for a speedy application in the morning when the timer is running.

Minute 1 - Chanel Vitalumière Aqua is a lightweight base that blends quickly and seamlessly into the skin. I find the quickest application method is with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. It has light coverage but just enough to disguise any redness or problem areas. It also looks natural on the skin. I woke up looking like this, right?

Minute 2 - Conceal under the eyes and on any blemishes with a multi-tasking concealer. The Nars Creamy Concealer works well on all problem areas of the face. It also has great coverage and longevity meaning you can feel confident during the day.

Minute 3 - Define and shape the brows in one easy step. Benefit Gimme Brow adds some thickness and colour, whilst taming any stray hairs. For me this product does just enough but without taking too much time to apply.

Minute 4 - Perk up your complexion with some colour. The Stila Convertible Colours can be used on the cheeks and lips. The creamy formula wears well on the cheeks and feels comfortable on the lips.

Minute 5 - Mascara is a quick and easy way to open the eyes up and make them appear larger. I've really been enjoying the Essence Lash Mania mascara for the perfect balance of length and volume. The shape of the wand allows easy access and application to your outer lashes.

What quick, multi-tasking products do you enjoy using of a morning?
